Going into the third period the Hawks never looked back and the Panthers could not match them for speed and skill even with a NHL glove dryer at there disposal, at 46.59 James Paxman made it 5-1 to the Hawks then at 48.53 Roy Keily netted his first of the night taking the tally to 6-1, Swindon heads dropped and penalties started to come thick and fast the Hawks used this to there advantage and at 49.09 James Paxman scored his second of the night and the game was out of reach for the Panthers the final buzzer sounded and the Chelmsford Nighthawks were crowned Summer cup 2011 champions once more.
The whole team would like to thank all the travelling supporters who made the journey to Swindon also to all the fans that have giving there support thro the season winning for you guy makes the victory taste sweeter see you all next summer.

Chelmsford Nighthawks 7 Swindon Panthers 1

This weekend saw the Chelmsford Nighthawks retain there title for 2011 against the Swindon Panthers, the game started hard and fast with both teams having shots on net but at 1.30 in to the first period saw Marien Pavlus find the net with his first touch of the puck the game was end to end with some skill full play from both teams at 13.14 Kevin Betts found the net to make it 2-0 to the visiting Hawks and thats how the score stayed going into the Second period the Hawks were now flying and there main objective was to score that third goal and at 22.42 Pavlus found the net again for the Hawks to make it 3-0 which seemed to stun the Swindon crowd into silence untill at 23.49 The Panthers struck back making the score 3-1 Swindon were singing again all for about 40 seconds before Pavlus scored again and found his hat trick to make it 4-1 to the Hawks and thats how it stayed for the rest of the second period. tbc

Hawks Make Final

Over the last couple of weekends the playoff semi finals have been taking place with Chelmsford taking on Solent and Swindon Taking on Cardiff. The first game at the riverside saw the Hawks come out on top with a 13-4 win to take to Solent the next day, the game at solent was a much closer affair on a small rink with the home team giving there all but still the skill and pace on the Hawks earned them a 6-4 win with an overall score of 19-8 over the two legs. Mean while at Cardiff the Swindon Panthers lost to a full squad Titan 4-0 and had it all to play for the following week, Cardiff turned up at Swindon minus there much talked about two elite league players and Swindon took full advantage of this and come out on top 10-2 winners on the night and clinching a spot in the final to face the defending champions the Chelmsford Nighthawks.

Hawks Fly Past Panthers

The Hawks faced Swindon panthers this Sat at the Riverside which was always going to be a tasty affair and the game lived up to all expectations the game had every think with both sides icing full squads. The Hawks set the tone by scoring first but it was not long b4 the Swindon side struck back with this it dawned on to the Hawks that the Panthers were here to play so they stepped up a gear and scored 3 quick goals making the score 4-1 to the Hawks, The Swindon side had no answer to the speed,skill and mindset of the Hawks and crumbled under the relentless pressure as the game went on the final score was a very impressive 14 -7 to the Chelmsford side who in turn on the back of this win came Runners up in the league standings and will now face Solent Scorpions in a double header semi final weekend with a spot in the final up for grabs.
Please come and support the Nighthawks this sat the 6th Aug at 17.15pm in there first semi final clash.

Maddogs Mauwled

Chelmsford Nighthawks faced Bristol Maddogs this weekend and Bristol only travelled with five players and a very upset netminder, needless to say the game was a one sided affair and the final result was 31 - 2 to the Hawks.
Nighthawks now face Swindon Panthers next weekend which should be a fiesty affair both teams will have full squads no doubt and the winners will take 2nd spot in the league and avoid Cardiff in the semi finals as usual next sat is free to watch so please come down and support your summer league hockey team the more the better it should be a cracker.

Satans Slaughtered

Chelmsford Nighthawks faced the Slough Satans this weekend and after a delayed face of due to traffic and the refs being late, the Hawks found there rhythm straight away and did not look back and after some sharp play came away with a 19 - 6 win, this leaves them in second spot with x2 games to go one being against bottem club Bristol in a weeks time then there last game of the regular season against Swindon Panthers of which could be a decider for playoff position a win here could see the Hawks face Gosport in the playoffs but a loss would mean they will meet 1st place Cardiff Titans what ever way it goes im sure it will make an intresting couple of games to come.

Hawks Fly Past Eagles

This weekend saw the Nighthawks entertain the Peterborough Eagles with the Hawks starting new Netminder Jordan Jowitt of whom has only been playing the game for several months and Peterborough getting approval and using a Netminder from a team in Grimsby as Mikysa was unavalible to travel. The Hawks dominated most of the game but left Jowitt high and dry a few times due to all the play being in the Eagles Half of the ice but the newbie stood up well and the Hawks brushed aside the Eagles with a convincing 15 - 6 win.

Double Header

After suffering a 3-1 home loss to Gosport on the sat where the Hawks had all the play but just could not seem to score past the travelling in form netminder, they travelled to Peterborough the next day to face the Eagles where there fortunes changed and after a tence couple of periods took control in the third and come away with a 10-6 win showing some great bounce back ability

This weekend saw the Hawks play Basingstoke at the riverside of which the fixture was for double points as the travelling cougars are finding it hard to secure home ice, in a one sided affair the Hawks come away with all 4 points and a 20 - 4 win to boot with super mario winning man of the match beers with 8 goals and 1 assist

The first game of the season against Swindon Panthers started as expected, physical and fast, with Swindon desperate to take revenge for last seasons final defeat. The game was close through the first 2 periods and Chelmsford spent most of the 2nd shorthanded. Still, they were able to fight off the attempts of the Panthers, and the Nighthawks finished the game off well to take the points winning 7-4.

Bristol Maddogs have no bite!

Chelmsford traveled west for the first of thier double header games with the Bristol Maddogs. The Nighthawks had a few of thier key players missing, but showed the depth within the team with a fanatical win 13-3.

Sting taken out of Scorpions

The Nighthawks traveled to the south coast last Sunday to take on the Solent Scorpions in the first of this years Summer cup matches.
The Nighthawks started the game well, and continued from where they left off last season with strong play and ultimately dominating the game. The Nighthawks won 7-4.

After last year's successful league and cup titles, capped off by being the only team to have won all their games, the Nighthawks start their title defense against the Solent Scorpion in Gosport. The Nighthawks have suffered some key losses over the winter period with Miroslav Pilat and goalkeeper Ian Sheppard moving on, but have been working hard to plug the gaps and are ready to take all the points at Gosport.
